In the category of better late than never, I am pleased to announce that alum Daniel Riveong won a 2019 for his work with colleague Estefania Simon-Sasyk at the Basque Culinary Center on Towards Personalized Gastronomy 2050. The work was on Category 2, which is for outstanding work on the future of an issue.
Daniel graduated from the Houston Foresight Program in 2018 and has done a variety of foresight projects since. This particular project, nominated by futurist John Sweeney, observed that while that have been a number of projects and reports on the future of food, few have focused on gastronomy, which is a more holistic approach to understanding what and how we eat. Their project broke new ground in exploring the futures of a familiar topic in novel and lively ways. The project looked at the rise of personalized gastronomy and how that shifts views of health, our bodies, and food itself.
We are very proud of Daniel and its great to see his work being recognized by professional futurists colleagues. We look forward to his next works on the future! – Andy Hines
