Certificate Course Group Picture
Andy Hines and I traveled to Abu Dhabi the week of February 16 to teach the Houston Foresight certificate course to Abu Dhabi’s Ministry of Interior (MOI). We were invited over by Derek Woodgate and Helga Veigl with The Futures Lab, Inc. who have been working with MOI for over a year!
A few interesting takeaways from our experience, along with some pictures:
- We certified over 40 participants
- The timeframe most futurists in UAE want to project to is 2071! This is for the centennial of the re-creation of the United Arab Emirates which was in 1971.
- Participants picked topics to explore through the certificate course. Some of the topics were: future of child protection, mobility, and artificial intelligence

For play time we:
- Visited the gorgeous Grand Mosque
- Went on a desert safari where we rode camels, got a henna tattoo, got a dune bashing ride in the desert hills, and enjoyed a belly dancer performance with a BBQ dinner!
