Mondelez International is seeking a Director of Strategy and Foresights, a role that blends high-level strategy development with data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate, equipped with a consulting and analytics background, will transition the organization from traditional methods to a future-backed approach and align it with its Vision 2030. As a strategic partner to leadership, this individual will formulate data-centric strategies, chart growth roadmaps in new spaces, and anticipate five-year trends while maintaining a broad commercial perspective, especially concerning product availability and visibility.
Moving beyond a reactive approach, this role seeks to transform the team into proactive thought partners. The position involves identifying emerging market spaces, addressing category brand concerns, anticipating challenges, and supporting M&A endeavors and sustainability efforts. Key tasks include tracking industry metrics, interpreting customer scorecards, focusing on emerging categories like cakes and pastries, and offering a strategic partnership in the company’s future direction.
How you will contribute:
The ideal candidate for the Director of Strategy and Foresights at Mondelez International will excel in strategy development and advanced data analytics, aligning with the Mondelez’s 2030 Vision. They should have a robust background in consulting and analytics, particularly in strategy. This individual will harness insights from varied sources, utilize strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, and provide competitor and market insights. Their responsibilities include crafting customer-focused presentations, conducting category assessments, supporting portfolio marketing, sustainability initiatives, and M&A activities, as well as anticipating upcoming trends. A background in the CPG sector, excellent communication skills, and the ability to turn data into actionable strategies are essential. The candidate should embody strong collaboration and executive presence, facilitating teamwork across departments.
High-Level Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with executive leadership to combine data and insights from various sources, including category, customer, shopper, and business intelligence, to shape and execute the company’s long-term strategic vision.
Data and Analytics:
- Leverage a strong understanding of data and analytics to support the team in making data-driven decisions. This will involve the ability to access, manipulate, and analyze data, including Nielsen data, ideally with proficiency in tools such as Python, R, and SQL.
Competitive Insights:
- Create a regular cadence of competitor updates, focusing on strategy, innovations, media investments, creative strategy, Revenue Growth Management strategy, and packaging innovations.
Customer Support:
- Tailor materials for customer-facing presentations, incorporating shopper trends and customer data while ensuring legal compliance.
Category Assessments:
- Conduct in-depth category and competitive assessments, pricing and promotion strategies, pack innovation evaluations, space management, and shopper research to inform decision-making.
Demand Space Analysis:
- Perform a deeper dive into demand space opportunities and consumer segmentation with a portfolio perspective.
Portfolio Marketing:
- Provide support for portfolio campaigns, test and learn measurement, and identification of occasions/moments for activation at the portfolio level.
Sustainability:
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives by building the rationale for consumer and shopper engagement, monitoring competitive activity, and supporting business case development.
M&A Support:
- Actively participate in M&A activities, including market screening, opportunity assessments, and business case modeling.
Foresight and Future-Proofing:
- Drive the development of a foresights capability, looking ahead to identify trends and opportunities over the next 5 years.
What You Will Bring
A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career with experience and knowledge in:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Statistics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Background in consulting and analytics, with a strong emphasis on strategy.
- Proficiency in data access, manipulation, and analysis, including tools like Python, R, and SQL.
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Knowledge of languages like Python, R, and SQL is desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Previous experience in a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) environment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated executive presence and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $127,900 to $259,400; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. The salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results and is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual equity program.
