Job Description:Mars Food & Nutrition has an ambitious agenda to enable healthier and more flavorful eating to become part of consumers’ daily lives. As part of this ambition, we need to stay on the cutting edge of understanding how the consumer and category are changing and how that translates into business opportunity and strategy. We are looking for a foresight, insight and analytics leader – someone who can both see and sense the big picture, and who can equally translate that into clear implications and business assumptions. This position will work as part of our Business Development and Strategy team, bringing data and insights into the development of strategy, supporting diligence and modeling for potential acquisitions, and supporting insights work for our standalone high-growth businesses.This role will form an integral part of our Business Development and Strategy Team working across a small, but highly visible, group that leads M&A strategy, future business strategy, M&A integration and support for our “engine 2” businesses. The role reports into the VP of the group, with a dotted line into the Global Insights Director who acts as a COE for the business segment. The role will also work closely with other members of the Global Food & Nutrition leadership team including the Chief Growth Officer and VP of R&D. The role will support the Marketing and Value Creation leads for Tasty Bite and Kevin’s Natural Foods with consumer insight needs.What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years in market research, strategy or private equity analysis

Background and passion in foresight, data and insight workStrong analytical and insights capabilities in working with retail audit data (e.g., Nielsen and SPINS) and survey developmentBackground in working with more disruptive businessesIdeally experience in diligence of potential acquisitionWhat will be your key responsibilities?

  • Lead data-driven foresights work in the evolving food and nutrition categories in the US to identify and size emerging trends, whitespaces and jobs to be done
  • Conduct rigorous hypothesis testing, translating insights into implications for our strategy
  • Support consumer insights work for Food & Nutrition high-growth “engine 2” businesses (including acquired companies) and emerging markets
  • Oversee research to develop investment theses around investments in new verticals / industry / geographies
  • Support business development scanning and sourcing by using syndicated retail data to monitor prioritized assets and to identify potential future targets
  • Contribute to the definition of value creation levers and business modelling for M&A by bringing in data and insights to support the development of investment theses
  • Lead diligence on consumer and category for prioritized assets including competitor, willingness to pay, awareness, penetration, job to be done, distribution, etc.
  • Promote and drive consumer centricity within the organization, instilling a deep consumer understanding in our business to emotionally engage with consumers’ needs & pain points
  • Work with Global Insights Director to coordinate consumer and category view across core and emerging business
