Manager – Global Consumer Insights -Portfolio, Capability and Foresight

This individual has the opportunity to play a critical role in shaping future growth opportunities for Beam Suntory, elevating the overall capabilities of the Global Consumer Insights team, and supporting some of the industry’s most sought-after brands . The role is truly global, allowing the individual to work with all our regions in all our categories. They will build a strong cross-functional network across the organization and develop a strong understanding of how Insight impacts all aspects of our business. The role provides the opportunity to be at the ground level of building best practices that will have a significant impact.

Role Responsibilities

The Manager, Global Consumer Insights will be responsible for supporting the Senior Director, Global Consumer Insights, on three workstreams critical to BSI:

  • The futures/foresight program, which drives BSI’s understanding of emerging trends and allows us to identify opportunities sooner
  • Portfolio-based insight initiatives, which encompass learning programs that apply to globally (regardless of region or brand)
  • Capabilities development, which centers around creating best practices and a harmonized approach to insights tools and techniques in order to create competitive advantage for BSI.

These workstreams are in nascent phases of development – there is significant opportunity to define and shape them. The Manager will be responsible for driving these workstreams forward, and for contributing strategically and analytically to their development. To that end, the individual should have a passion for understanding people, and an ability to see beyond observations to identify true insights that aren’t obvious in data. This individual will synthesize large amounts of information and data into actionable conclusions, and present that synthesis in compelling stories. The Manager will pull meaning from analysis of demographic, psychographic, behavioral, attitudinal and economic data. The Manager will also be well-versed in a range of market research methodologies and tools, and will help ensure that the tools are being used in the right places at BSI. Most critically, the Manager will ensure that workstreams are moving forward efficiently. This will require the Manager to develop collaborative and trusting relationships with colleagues at many levels, across all company functions and across key countries.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and creative thinking skills, coupled with strong project management and organizational discipline
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with people at all levels of the organization, as well as suppliers and agency partners
  • High level of accountability, flexibility and self-direction, coupled with eagerness to learn and take direction from leaders as appropriate
  • Adaptable; thrives in an environment of transformation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, create project plans and timelines, assign responsibilities, meet deadlines and problem-solve
  • Ability to lead qualitative and quantitative custom research project throughout all stages including design, execution, analysis and recommendation
  • Ability to mine syndicated information sources such as Nielsen, Simmons MRI and social media analytical tools, including tools that use Boolean search; ability to generate insights from the data and form recommendations
  • Ability to use DIY/agile research methodologies
  • Experience with a range of research methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to draw conclusions and extract meaningful insights
  • Strong storytelling skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong PowerPoint skills and ability to create visual presentations; proficiency with Excel.
