This position supports the Market Intelligence Team with Data Science and occasional Trend responsibilities. The Data Science and Trend team is responsible for identifying emerging and shifting STEEP trends (political, social, technological, environmental, and economic). These trends help identify the ever-changing needs and expectations of future customers. They also signal impending changes on the horizon that will affect future technologies, product line-up, and mobility services offered by Nissan and its affiliates.
The position requires a creative self-starter who can work independently with agencies, vendors, and outside thought leaders. The position requires a balance of quantitative and qualitative market research skills, as well as proficiency in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The Planner will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and communicating key macro trends to the organization.
Job Functions
1. Works in partnership with the Sr. Manager to prepare for Regional Trend Meeting and TRM process that culminates in a presentation to Senior Leadership at NNA and NML. This activity supports the Global [C] process.
2. The Planner will interface with NNA stakeholders, Global stakeholders, and executives.
3. Maintain and update Generational studies, develop engaging one-page abstracts, and present to interfacing groups who work in future-facing strategic activities (Global MI, AP, Mobility, and Business Transformation).
4. The candidate must have proficient skills in applying data science techniques, such as machine learning, natural language processing, statistical modeling, and artificial intelligence.
5. The Sr. Planner will conduct a benchmark of research companies that utilize Artificial Intelligence for the prediction of trends.
6. Responsible for customer-facing research with consumers and NNA employees. This will entail coordinating regular meetings with vendors, project management, and presentations.
7. Lead all activities related to MI Budget and Supplier Sourcing Activity.
8. Conducts research by employing quantitative and qualitative studies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Marketing, Anthropology, Sociology, Consumer Behavior-related studies) or a minimum of eight years of increasingly responsible experience. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Job Knowledge and Skill
• Familiarity with Social Media research, use of AI and Data Science techniques; segmentation analysis, and quantitative/qualitative market research methodology skills.
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Infographics, and data visualization skills.
• Utilizing advanced statistical techniques such as mTab, SPSS, or SAS is required
• Ability to utilize internal NNA databases such as Polk and UUNS as well as online / social media tools is required.
• Storytelling, visual and oral presentation skills; photo shop and video editing skills are a plus.
• Should also demonstrate a keen interest in current events, pop culture and social media.
• Experience generating executive presentations and working with senior level executives required.
Experience
• 3-5 years of related Trends and Market Research experience.
Occasional day, overnight, and extended travel.
